2018 World Cup Competition

So near, yet so far…

Just for a moment there it seemed the long wait may be coming to an end… then reality bit back and England finished in a very respectable but mildly disappointing fourth place. Still, the World Cup in Russia gave us tremendous daily entertainment, controversy (even in the final itself) and ultimately worthy(ish) winners.

Many thanks to all those that entered our competition, which went right to the wire.

Phase 1 (Group Stage) was won by Tim Leney, who predicted 6 of the 8 group winners, and pipped John Osbourne and Paul Mingay by guessing there would be 120 goals scored in the group stage (there were 121).

Our Phase 2 (Semi Finals) winner was Rob Warren from the Youth Adventure Trust, and congratulations also to Guy Campbell, Paul Mingay (again!) Tony Head and Mark Prosser who were the only entrants that predicted France would win the thing.

Of these, our overall top points scorer and therefore trophy winner was Mark Prosser from Signs Express (pictured above), who most accurately guessed the total number of tournament goals (169 for you statto’s out there).

Champagne prizes are on their way to both Tim and Rob, whilst Mark gets to drink his from the famous Yellowdot sports trophy itself.
